Domain Management
It is the policy of The Beracha Foundation to transfer all domains associated with our internet-based services into our care unless the mission or ministry partner we are working with is able to show that they possess the technical and business acumen necessary to manage their domains.
There are a variety of reasons why Beracha chooses to have this policy.
Many of the organizations we have worked with do not know:
- who purchased their own domains
- where their domains are registered
- what domains they own what domains they should own
- what they need to do to keep their domains secure how they can transfer their domains
- how they can suddenly lose their domains the variety of scams associated with cheating them out of their domains
- how they can lose their domains and then be forced to repurchase them for large sums of money
- how to manage domain DNS association and in many cases are unaware of DNS association
- how domains are utilized within secure applications, SSL set-up, sub-domains, etc.
- that e-mail (best practice) is associated with their domains
- how and why a global organization could be crippled for weeks if they do not understand issues which surround domains, such as DNS, MX records, zone files, etc.
- the dangers and scams surrounding the process of domain purchases
- defensive and offensive strategies concerning domain ownership
- how an unscrupulous company(external) or personel (internal) could hold them hostage with regard to domain management without integrity
- understand the load balancing and performance-based issues that are involved in setting up functioning website
- of the growing sophistication of hackers that can impair a sites functionality.
Given these very real and costly threats, Beracha, when it is deemed appropriate, has recommended the in-house procurement and registry of domains for our valued clients.
